Brotato, a popular indie game on Xbox Game Pass resembling Vampire Survivors, is set to introduce local co-op through an upcoming free update scheduled for later this year. Originally launched on Steam last summer, Brotato has garnered significant acclaim, holding an 'Overwhelmingly Positive' overall review score on Steam and receiving similar praise on Xbox Game Pass.

The addition of Brotato to Xbox Game Pass earlier this year expanded its reach. Although already available on PC, Brotato was promptly included in Game Pass on its Xbox release day. While the game is also accessible on PlayStation and Switch, players on these platforms must make a direct purchase instead of utilizing a subscription.

Despite its positive reception, Brotato faced criticism for lacking local co-op, a key aspect that inspired its creation. In response to feedback, Brotato announced during the Triple-I Initiative livestream that local co-op will be added in a free update this summer. Although an exact release date is pending, this feature will be available across all platforms, not solely on Game Pass.

New Features for Brotato: Local Co-Op and Paid DLC

While local co-op takes the spotlight in the forthcoming Brotato update, players can anticipate additional enhancements. The update will include Brotato balance adjustments, bug fixes, and 'new content to enhance the gameplay experience.' Furthermore, this summer holds more excitement for Brotato enthusiasts.

Simultaneous to the free update, Brotato will introduce its initial paid DLC named Abyssal Terrors. This DLC offers over 10 new characters, 10 additional weapons, and more than 30 collectible items within '20 new challenging waves.' As seen with the Vampire Survivors DLC, Abyssal Terrors is expected to prolong the enjoyment of Brotato.

The incorporation of local co-op into Brotato is a significant advancement for the game, likely attracting a larger player base. Assuming a smooth implementation of local co-op, Brotato is primed to stand out as a top local co-op game option on Xbox Game Pass.
