Highlights

  • Xbox users can soon manage Cloud Gaming save files on the fly and seamlessly switch between multiple Wi-Fi networks.
  • Insiders are currently trying out these updates, with a wider release expected shortly after testing.
  • Additional features like game hubs on the Xbox app for PC and enhanced access restrictions on consoles are also in the pipeline for Xbox users.

Following recent enhancements, both Xbox Cloud Gaming and console users will soon have the ability to effortlessly handle their save files while on the move and manage multiple Wi-Fi networks within the OS settings. These modifications are presently undergoing testing by Xbox Insiders on compatible Xbox Cloud Gaming devices and Xbox Series X/S. A public release is anticipated shortly after a brief testing phase.

The announcement of these modifications followed an April console firmware update from Xbox. The update included enhancements to Discord functionality on consoles, enabling users to toggle soundboard audio from other users on or off. Xbox console users now have the option to prevent guest accounts from installing or removing games and apps on a console by utilizing a new access restrictions feature in the Xbox system menu. Additionally, PC users have been granted access to game hubs on the Xbox app for Windows 10 and 11, providing users with game details like HowLongToBeat statistics, achievements, and a list of friends playing the same game.

Despite a prior update that improved social features for Xbox Cloud Gaming, Microsoft is continuing to expand the array of features available to Xbox users. As per The Verge's Tom Warren, Xbox Cloud Gaming users will soon have the ability to manage game saves through a compatible web browser or smart TV. This update will allow users to rectify unfavorable situations without the necessity of creating a new save file. The Xbox Cloud Gaming update is currently accessible to users enrolled in the Xbox Insider program. However, some non-Insider Xbox users have reported the feature as being live for them as well.

Enhanced Cloud Gaming and Wi-Fi Capabilities for Xbox Users

Alongside the Xbox Cloud Gaming adjustments, Warren revealed that a forthcoming Xbox console update will enable the system to remember and transition between multiple Wi-Fi networks. In a brief video, Warren highlighted that this change is particularly beneficial for players who frequently travel with their Xbox console or utilize multiple home networks for different purposes. This functionality can be accessed through the system's wireless network settings by selecting the 'manage remembered wireless networks' option. Some Xbox users have even suggested that such a feature could prove advantageous for a potential Xbox handheld console.

With these updates and the planned revisions to the Xbox dashboard interface, Microsoft users will soon have a plethora of customization options at their disposal. The future features awaiting Xbox users are sure to enhance their gaming experiences even further.
