This special event unveils a new temporary boss with exclusive rewards and an opportunity to add two new flying mounts to your collection in the form of the Fiery Hearthsteed and Compass Rose. Here's your guide on how to obtain these coveted mounts.
Acquiring the Fiery Hearthsteed Mount
Players logging into World of Warcraft between March 11 and March 14, 2024, can secure the Fiery Hearthsteed Mount, a blazing variant of the original Hearthsteed introduced shortly after Hearthstone's debut in 2014. This mount is exclusive to Retail realms and not accessible in WoW Classic.
To qualify for this mount, players must launch Hearthstone on desktop or mobile, completing the tutorial if it's their first playthrough. Upon logging into World of Warcraft, the Fiery Hearthsteed will be waiting in their Mount Journal as an unopened gift box.
Obtaining the Compass Rose Mount
The Compass Rose is a mount inspired by Hearthstone, resembling the iconic logo from the game's box cover. This distinctive flying mount, akin to disc mounts like the Lorewalkers' Red Flying Cloud and the Tazavesh Gearglider, allows your character to stand atop as it soars through the skies.
The Compass Rose mount can be acquired in World of Warcraft as a potential drop from a special event boss named Dr. Boom. Dr. Boom emerges from portals appearing at specific locations during the Hearthstone 10th Anniversary event. These portals spawn sequentially in fixed city locations:
- Valdrakken - At the Emerald Enclave tower coordinates (62.2, 67.0)
- Stormwind - In the northeastern city corner above the Harbor at coordinates (34.0, 21.0)
- Orgrimmar - Directly north of Drygulch Ravine on the world map at coordinates (53.1, 16.2)
Before a portal materializes, an icon labeled “Ominous Portal” will signal its imminent arrival. Once a five-minute countdown elapses, the portal activates, summoning mobs and eventually Dr. Boom for a battle. Defeating Dr. Boom, who has no loot lockout, presents opportunities to obtain the Compass Rose and other exclusive items during the Hearthstone 10th Anniversary Event.
