World of Goo 2 is set to arrive as a Nintendo Switch exclusive on May 23. The recent Nintendo Direct unveiled both the release date and the Switch exclusivity for the sequel to one of the most beloved Wii games.

World of Goo is a standout indie game from the fifth console generation, developed by 2D Boy in San Francisco. Initially released for the Wii and PC in late 2008, it later reached mobile platforms and made its way to the Switch in 2017. World of Goo 2 was announced at The Game Awards 2023, shortly after the 15th anniversary of its predecessor.

World of Goo 2: Multi-Platform Release

During the first Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase of 2024, a new gameplay trailer for World of Goo 2 was revealed, confirming its release date of May 23. The trailer also disclosed that the game will be exclusive to the Switch but will also launch on Windows, macOS, and Linux simultaneously.

Exclusive Distribution on Epic Games Store

Windows and macOS users can opt to get World of Goo 2 from the Epic Games Store or directly from 2D Boy. However, Linux users will have the game available only through 2D Boy. While a Steam release hasn't been mentioned, the game will not be solely tied to Epic's platform, as 2D Boy will offer it directly as well.

For fans of puzzle games, World of Goo 2 is a highly anticipated title due to the success of its predecessor, known for its genre-defining gameplay and outstanding reviews.

Noteworthy Wii Game Remakes

Aside from the World of Goo 2 announcement, the Nintendo Direct also teased a Switch remake of the Wii exclusive Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed.
