A gaming enthusiast had a stroke of luck when they snagged a working Nintendo GameCube from a Goodwill store for a mere $25. Despite being overshadowed by its competitors during its era, the Nintendo GameCube is remembered fondly for its exceptional game library, distinctive controller still favored for modern gaming like Super Smash Bros, and its reputation for durability.

The Nintendo GameCube boasted a plethora of classic games, including iconic titles from the Metroid and Legend of Zelda series. Even today, Nintendo GameCube games maintain popularity, with Nintendo reviving some of its top games on modern platforms through remakes and re-releases. Interest in the console saw a resurgence during the COVID-19 pandemic, causing a spike in prices for pre-owned GameCube games and consoles. Though the market has stabilized somewhat, retro gaming gear can still command high prices, making stumbling upon a bargain at a garage sale or thrift store a thrilling experience.

TikTok user Highanna (@highannna) regularly shares gaming content and thrift store discoveries, ranging from Pokemon plushies to vintage video games and retro strategy guides. Recently, Highanna unearthed a Nintendo GameCube at a local Goodwill store priced at $29.99. Thanks to a stroke of luck, the console was acquired for a steal at $25. Online, used GameCube consoles often fetch over $100, making this find truly remarkable, especially since it remains in working condition.

In a subsequent video, Highanna tested the Goodwill-acquired GameCube with the 2002 Spider-Man game based on the Tobey Maguire-led Sam Raimi movie. Highanna later showcased her collection of GameCube consoles, unveiling a black GameCube system beneath the blue cover of the Goodwill find.

This isn't the first instance of a remarkable GameCube discovery at a Goodwill store. In the past, a Reddit user snagged a GameCube for approximately $30 at Goodwill, and upon inspection, found a copy of Mario Party 7 inside. A loose Mario Party 7 disc typically retails for around $25 online, making it a fantastic bonus find alongside the GameCube. These anecdotes serve as a reminder for retro gamers to keep their eyes peeled while browsing local thrift stores.
