The Suicide Squad star Daniela Melchior has raised doubts about the return of her character, Ratcatcher 2, to the DC Universe, amidst James Gunn's efforts to reshape the entire franchise.

Melchior emerged as the breakout star of The Suicide Squad, delivering a remarkable portrayal of the comic book character, a performance lauded in reviews. Fans have fervently hoped for Ratcatcher 2's inclusion in the DCU, yet Melchior has explicitly stated her lack of awareness regarding any such plans.

Responding to a question on Instagram about her involvement in Gunn and Peter Safran's DCU slate, Melchior admitted to being uncertain about her participation in the franchise. Although it is not confirmed whether characters from The Suicide Squad will feature in the upcoming phase of DC titles, there is a strong possibility that they may not play a significant role initially or return for a standalone sequel.

Melchior's portrayal of Ratcatcher 2 and the character's narrative distinguished her as a standout figure among the ensemble cast. In the film's climax, Ratcatcher 2 summons a horde of rats, debilitating the antagonist Starro, enabling Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn to deliver the decisive blow. While the character was initially inspired by the male Ratcatcher from DC's Detective Comics #585-586, Gunn imbued her with unique traits, such as a wand for telepathic communication with rats, symbolizing a departure from the original character's villainous nature.

Melchior's compelling portrayal has left fans eager to witness the character's potential growth in future DCU projects, should she reprise her role. Although it remains unconfirmed whether Melchior and her character will be part of the DCU, the prospect of witnessing the character's development in upcoming projects is undeniably intriguing.
