After More Than 15 Years, Supermassive Games Co-Founders to Depart - Pete and Joe Samuels, the co-founders of Supermassive Games, have announced their departure from the studio they established over 15 years ago. Supermassive has garnered a reputation for its immersive interactive drama games, initially rising to fame with the release of Until Dawn in 2015. The studio continued its success with the Dark Pictures Anthology series, comprising multiple episodic releases, and with the critically acclaimed The Quarry in 2022.
Before the inception of Supermassive Games, Pete Samuels had gained experience working with EA and Sony subsidiary Psygnosis. After the formation of Supermassive, the studio initially operated as a second-party developer for Sony, contributing to DLC for the first two LittleBigPlanet games and the PS3 remaster of Killzone. Furthermore, Supermassive collaborated with Bandai Namco on the Little Nightmares franchise, handling the Enhanced Edition of Little Nightmares 2 and assuming full development of Little Nightmares 3. Now, the studio's co-founders are bidding farewell after more than a decade with Supermassive Games.
