A fresh wave of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Spirits is making its way to the beloved fighting game Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. These impending additions are set to bring valuable in-game bonuses.
One of the defining aspects of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is its utilization of Spirits, which serve as power-ups and collectibles that bestow buffs and enable players to employ special abilities during battles. Since its launch in December 2018, the Nintendo Switch exclusive has amassed an impressive array of over 1,500 Spirits inspired by popular Nintendo franchises, including Pokemon. Fans of the Pokemon series will be delighted to learn that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is gearing up to welcome a fresh batch of Pokemon Spirits.
In a recent announcement on the official Japanese Twitter account of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, it was revealed that the game will be receiving Spirits from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, along with content from the games' paid expansion, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. These Spirits are scheduled to be unveiled over a span of five days starting from February 9th, with the first releases featuring the Legendary Pokemon Koraidon and Miraidon from the Ninth Generation. Subsequently, Ogerpon, Terapagos, and the Paldea starters - Fuecoco, Quaxly, and Sprigatito - will follow in succession.
January saw the incorporation of Spirits from Supergiant Games' Hades, Vanillaware's 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, and Konami's WBSC eBASEBALL: Power Pros into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Similar to the previous release, the upcoming Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Spirits are poised to grant players an increased amount of Spirit Points.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate also welcomed new Spirits at the beginning of 2024 from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Pikmin, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and Splatoon 3. These additions followed the celebration of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's 5th anniversary last December, which was marked by a special event - the sole new Spirit Board event introduced last year. At the time, this was purportedly the first new event Super Smash Bros. Ultimate had seen in almost two years.
Boasting an extensive array of characters, unique stages, and engaging modes, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has emerged as one of the top-selling games for the Switch, having shipped approximately 33.67 million copies worldwide, as per Nintendo's records. Despite its success, there has been no indication of a sequel being in the works.
