  • Understand the irreversible nature of using Butterfly Powder to remove pets in the game.

Stardew Valley 1.6 introduces the possibility of adopting multiple pets, but not every farmer may want a bustling barnyard. For those seeking a way to bid farewell to a pet without causing distress, Butterfly Powder provides a discreet solution in the latest game update.

Here's a breakdown of how to acquire and utilize this unique item.

Acquiring Butterfly Powder

To obtain Butterfly Powder, players must head to the Sewers and purchase it from Krobus. Each powder costs 20,000g, with no limit on the quantity that can be bought. Krobus restocks their inventory immediately after a purchase.

Utilizing Butterfly Powder

To bid adieu to a pet permanently, simply apply Butterfly Powder on the animal you wish to part with. Interact with the pet while holding the powder, and watch as it transforms into a butterfly and gracefully departs. Remember, this action cannot be reversed during your current gameplay.

Prior to version 1.6, parting ways with a spouse or children was feasible through divorce or the Dark Shrine of Selfishness. However, the absence of a method for pet removal prompted the introduction of Butterfly Powder in the March update.

Alternative to Butterfly Powder

Another approach to managing pets is by altering their appearance at the Wizard's basement through the Shrine of Illusions. While you can modify a pet's variant, transitioning between species is not permitted. For instance, changing a cat's color from white to black is viable, but transforming it into a dog is off the table.
