Arriving on the gaming scene back in 1982 with the surprisingly decent Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back for the Atari 2600, the Star Wars franchise has a rich history in video games, boasting over 100 titles in the past 40+ years. Among the myriad of games, the classic Star Wars: Battlefront series consistently stands out as a fan favorite.

Debuting in 2004, the original Star Wars: Battlefront offered fans a chance to immerse themselves in the franchise's legendary battles. Despite being overshadowed by its successor, the first Battlefront retains a gritty charm that resonates even two decades later. To mark its 20th anniversary, Aspyr is set to launch the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection next month, bundling both cherished 2000s titles with previously exclusive bonus content.

Discovering Every Bonus Map in Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection

In January 2006, Star Wars: Battlefront 2 received two DLC packs exclusively through Xbox Live. The first pack, a free update, introduced the Hero Assault mode on Kashyyyk. The second pack, a paid expansion, brought forth new characters and maps. The upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection from Aspyr will incorporate all this additional content, now available across all platforms.

The Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection will boast a total of six bonus maps. The original Star Wars: Battlefront will feature the initial bonus map, the original version of Jabba's Palace, which was first introduced as a post-launch update for PC and Xbox. Meanwhile, Star Wars: Battlefront 2 will include all five bonus maps, mostly revamped versions of maps from the first game like Rhen Var Harbor, Citadel, and Cloud City.

Introducing New Heroes and Villains in Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection

The 2006 Xbox-exclusive DLC for Star Wars: Battlefront 2 introduced two new playable characters, both of whom will be part of Aspyr's Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection. Joining the Heroes, Jedi Master Kit Fisto brings his Lightsaber Throw and Force Orb skills, excelling in long-range combat. On the Villains' side, Clone Wars antagonist Asajj Ventress enters the fray, armed with unique Linksabers and Star Blade throwing knives.

While players can access these bonus characters in various game modes, they will shine in the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection's Hero Assault mode. This multiplayer mode, a fan-favorite across Star Wars games, allows players to battle as iconic characters such as Han Solo, Darth Vader, and more. Previously limited to Tatooine, the Classic Collection expands Hero Assault to all ground maps for enhanced gameplay.
