Nintendo has announced its upcoming Splatfest event for Splatoon 3. Set to kick off on January 12, it will have a holiday theme. Players are invited to join one of three teams and compete for victory, with the winning team earning Super Sea Snails as a reward.
As part of its ongoing season, Chill Season 2023, Splatoon 3 introduces the holiday-themed Chill Season 2023. The new season offers wintry gear, a new King Salmonid in the limited-time Big Run mode, and various new weapons. Fans will also be pleased to see the return of the Chirpy Chips band from previous Splatoon games with new battle music for online matches. In January, Tricolor Turf War matches will determine the winner of the winter Splatfest.
The official Splatoon Twitter account confirmed that the upcoming Splatfest, named Frosty Fest, will take place from January 12 to 14, 2024 in Splatoon 3. The theme of the Splatfest is 'Who do you spend the holidays with?' Players will have the option to choose between 'Friends,' 'Family,' or 'Solo.' Shiver will lead Team Friends, Frye will lead Team Family, and Big Man will lead Team Solo. Voting will commence on January 5, enabling players to select their team in preparation for the event, which begins exactly one week later.

Similar to the Halloween Splatfest in Splatoon 3, all three members of Deep Cut will sport specially themed attire for the Frosty Fest. Additionally, the Squid Sisters will perform on the Inkopolis stage in wintry attire. During Frosty Fest, snow will fall in Splatsville and Inkopolis, where both hubs will be adorned with snowmen and other wintry decorations.
Closer to the beginning of the Splatfest, Splatoon 3 players will have the opportunity to acquire Frosty Fest gear for free. The new gear can be obtained by opening the News section on Nintendo Switch for Splatoon 3 and launching the game from a related Squid Research Lab article. However, the exact release date for this article is yet to be revealed, and details about the postponed Splatoon 3 Koshien tournament have not been disclosed.
Frosty Fest is a chance to rectify the errors from Splatoon 3's Chill Season 2023 Big Run event, which mistakenly distributed rewards. All participants will receive Super Sea Snails, with the winning team earning the most.
