  • Splatfests not only attract a large player base but also serve as platforms for developers to fine-tune and enhance the game.

Nintendo has recently revealed the details for the upcoming Splatfest in Splatoon 3, scheduled to commence on February 16. This event will present players with three choices to select from. Since its launch in September 2022, Splatoon 3 has hosted 12 Splatfests, where participants align with one of three options and compete against the other two factions to determine the ultimate victor.

In addition to the regular Splatfests, the ongoing sixth season, The Chill Season, brings a plethora of fresh content to the third-person shooter, including new weapons, maps, equipment, and brand-new music tracks. While players can customize their Inklings and Octolings, it is the Splatfest that garners the most attention and engagement.

The upcoming Splatfest was announced across Nintendo’s European social media channels and presents the question, “What’s the best day of the weekend?” Players will have the choice of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with each member of Splatoon 3’s idol group being linked to a specific day. As customary for Splatoon 3, the event will take over the main battle arena and is scheduled to run from February 16, 2024, at 4 pm PST until the same time on February 18, 2024, featuring both 4v4 and Tricolor Turf War.

The most recent Splatfest, held in January 2024, prompted players to battle it out in response to the question, “Who do you spend the holidays with?” The winning team, Solo, represented by the beloved idol, Big Man, emerged victorious over the choices of “Friends” and “Family.”

Splatfests serve not only as a means for Nintendo to attract more players to the online shooter but also provide developers with an opportunity to implement future improvements to the game. This is evident in the Tricolor Turf War, which has undergone numerous enhancements since its introduction during the inaugural Splatoon 3 Splatfest.

Aside from the February Splatfest, players can also look forward to the release of Splatoon 3: Side Order DLC on February 22. This additional content will offer an exciting new single-player expansion, introducing powerful mod chips that enhance the main character's abilities based on the mission at hand. The Side Order DLC can be purchased from the Nintendo e-Shop for $24.99 and includes both waves. The first wave of the DLC was launched in 2023, reacquainting players with the original Inkopolis from the first game.
