Marking the recent disclosure of Sonic x Shadow Generations, a new outfit influenced by Shadow the Hedgehog is set to join Sonic Superstars. Introduced last year, Sonic Superstars provides fans with a fresh 2D escapade based on the 16-bit Sega Genesis games. Following the release of Superstars, Sega has been including complimentary DLC outfits for its playable characters, such as a festive attire for Sonic. The forthcoming outfit will be introduced later this month.

Sonic Superstars is solely situated in the past, employing the Classic Era designs of the playable characters. According to Sega, to maintain chronological coherence, elements from games post-Sonic Adventure are excluded from appearing in the game, including Shadow the Hedgehog, who made his debut in Sonic Adventure 2. Executive producer Takashi Iizuka explicitly informed fans early on that Shadow wouldn't be featured as a playable character in Superstars. Despite Shadow's absence as a playable character in Superstars, an attire inspired by the crimson and ebony hedgehog will be integrated into the game.

According to a recent announcement from Sega (archived courtesy of Sonic Stadium), Sonic Superstars will receive this Shadow the Hedgehog outfit on February 15 as a complimentary download, exclusively wearable by Sonic. This addition is in celebration of the recently exposed Sonic x Shadow Generations, which not only revitalizes the original Sonic Generations but also incorporates a fresh narrative campaign from Shadow's viewpoint. While Sega has not yet provided any visuals of the outfit, they are expected to surface closer to the release date.

Enthusiasts were early to uncover details about this outfit, attributed to a Sonic Superstars datamine that delineated this Shadow outfit last December. Subsequent to this premature revelation, fans speculated that Sonic might be donning a hoodie or ensemble resembling Shadow, as opposed to transforming Sonic's model to mirror Shadow. However, this conjecture should be approached with caution until Sega unveils the actual appearance of the outfit.

2024 seems to be a thrilling year for admirers of Shadow the Hedgehog. In addition to being the focal point of his own game mode in Sonic x Shadow Generations, Shadow will take the spotlight as the antagonist in the third cinematic Sonic installment, slated to premiere in theaters on December 20, 2024.
