Highlights

  • A new update for The Sims 4 was released on April 16, addressing nearly two dozen bugs.
  • The patch arrives shortly before The Sims 4 Urban Homage and Party Essentials Kits launch.
  • Various bug fixes and improvements have been implemented across different expansion packs and the base game.

The latest update for The Sims 4 is now live on both PC and console platforms, landing on April 16. This fresh release focuses on enhancing the popular life simulation game by tackling around twenty bugs and issues that have been affecting players.

Since its debut in 2014, The Sims 4 has seen a plethora of expansions and over 60 smaller DLC packs. Each new content drop is consistently preceded by a bug-fixing update, usually rolled out a couple of days before the scheduled release of the next kit or expansion. While additional patches for The Sims 4 are released periodically by Maxis, the timing of these updates can be less predictable. However, the imminent arrival of paid content signals the imminent arrival of bug fixes.

This established pattern continues with the impending launch of The Sims 4 Urban Homage and Party Essentials Kits on April 18. True to form, a significant patch has been deployed across all platforms on April 16, identified by version numbers 1.106.148.1030 (PC), 1.106.148.1230 (macOS), and 1.91 (consoles), introducing 22 changes primarily focused on bug resolutions.

While most fixes pertain to specific expansions, four of them target the base game. One notable fix addresses an issue where healthy plants in The Sims 4 erroneously emitted green clouds, falsely indicating they were in poor health. Another key improvement enhances the game's user interface by ensuring that First and Last Name panels in Create A Sim mode display correctly when pronouns are selected, regardless of the language chosen.

The update also rectifies the functionality of group cooking activities, which previously saw only one Sim doing all the work while others idly chatted. Additionally, a base game fix eliminates the occurrence of the Landgraab Power Company cutting off power to a lot despite bills being paid in full.

Besides these, over a dozen bug fixes specific to various expansions are included, along with an updated version of the Gallery profanity filter based on ongoing player feedback. Notably, Castle Estate leads with three bug resolutions, followed by Werewolves, For Rent, and Horse Ranch, each benefiting from two fixes.
