Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance has received a rating in South Korea. The leaked rating implies that the undisclosed title is a comprehensive version of Shin Megami Tensei 5, encompassing all downloadable content (DLC) and possibly additional material.

Speculations about an enhanced edition of the latest mainline Shin Megami Tensei game have circulated online for quite some time, as old as the RPG itself. These speculations are linked to the belief that SMT5 will eventually be available on platforms beyond the Nintendo Switch. The first hint of this came from the late 2021 Nvidia GeForce NOW leak, suggesting a potential PC port of the RPG in progress.

Insights from SMT5: Vengeance Rating

Almost two years later, the South Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee issued an age rating for an undisclosed title named Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance. This rating, initially discovered by Gematsu, indicates that Vengeance is a complete edition of the fifth SMT installment, containing all existing DLC and some additional, though unspecified, enhancements. The rating was posted on February 16 and removed from the regulator's site three days later. Historically, Atlus titles' content classifications have surfaced up to six months before their release.

Long-Awaited Complete Edition of SMT5

This recent development aligns with multiple reports from prominent Sega leaker Midori, who has persistently claimed that Atlus is working on a project related to Shin Megami Tensei 5 since September 2023. A new edition of the highly praised RPG would certainly fit that description and was also hinted at by Chinese leaker Diandong Langke Lu Xun in June 2023.

Almost every major Atlus RPG since the 2003 Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne has received a complete edition. Hence, the prospect of SMT5 following suit comes as no surprise. Regarding potential new content in SMT5: Vengeance, additional demons might be part of the upcoming release. Recent datamining efforts unveiled seemingly finalized versions of Dagda, Krishna, and Satan in the original game, all left unused.

More to Come in the World of SMT

The recent revelation about Vengeance does not specify platforms. However, rumors about Shin Megami Tensei 5 reaching PC and PlayStation have circulated for years, fostering hope among fans that the game is on the brink of expanding beyond the Nintendo Switch. Sega's strengthening ties with Microsoft also hint at a potential Xbox version. Looking ahead, Vengeance is likely not the sole SMT project on the horizon; Midori's recent reports suggest Atlus is also developing a Netflix series spin-off and a remastered version of a PS2-era franchise entry, speculated to be SMT: Digital Devil Saga.
