Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution is making a comeback on the Game Boy Advance, featuring a limited physical release with a cartridge compatible with the original GBA system. Initially unveiled during the Nintendo Indie World showcase in November, this revival by Wayforward has stirred excitement among fans.

The game, originally intended for the Game Boy Advance, would have marked the first sequel to the original Game Boy title. In Risky Revolution, players join the half-genie heroine on a quest to protect loved ones, utilizing various magical transformations like a monkey, elephant, and spider. Though shelved and left incomplete, Wayforward is not only bringing the project to the Nintendo Switch but also to the original GBA hardware.

Teaming up with Limited Run Games, specialists in physical game collections, Wayforward is releasing a Game Boy Advance cartridge version of Risky Revolution compatible with Nintendo's classic handheld system. Pre-orders are live on Limited Run Games' website, available from February 23 to April 7, 2024, offering two editions for pre-order: a standard boxed version and a Collector's Edition.
