Speculation is rife that some of the actors from the original Fantastic Four (2005) movie, such as Jessica Alba and Chris Evans, could make an appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine.
Marvel seems to be cherry-picking fan-favorite franchises for future releases, with one of the anticipated sequels being the team-up of Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool with a returning Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. This pairing has stirred considerable excitement among fans, as it promises a reunion of popular superhero actors. In addition to Jackman, other familiar faces are rumored to join the duo in Deadpool & Wolverine. Speculations suggest Alba and Evans might reprise their roles as Invisible Woman and Human Torch, respectively, from the Fantastic Four series.
The Storm Siblings' Possible Reappearance in Deadpool 3
Insider Caleb Williams has hinted at Alba's potential return as Sue Storm, known as Invisible Woman, in Deadpool & Wolverine. Williams tweeted in response to a post speculating about Alba and Evans' involvement in the movie. Evans, renowned for his portrayal of Captain America, previously played Johnny Storm, also known as Human Torch, in two Fantastic Four films before becoming the Star-Spangled Avenger. Given that Johnny is Sue's sibling in Marvel lore, the rumored return of both actors to their roles in Fantastic Four (2005) and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007) seems fitting. They even voiced these characters in a Fantastic Four video game. However, while Williams mentioned Alba's return, there is no confirmation yet about Evans' participation.
Despite the lack of official confirmation regarding Evans, Williams' tweets hint at the likelihood of the Fantastic Four characters appearing in Deadpool & Wolverine, including John Krasinski playing Sue's husband, Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), instead of Ioan Gruffudd, Alba's original on-screen partner. The rumored casting change, reportedly due to scheduling conflicts or personal reasons involving Gruffudd's ongoing divorce, may indicate Marvel's cautious approach. Krasinski recently portrayed Mr. Fantastic in the 2022 film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While many expected him to reprise the role in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, Pedro Pascal has been confirmed as the new Reed Richards.
While it remains unconfirmed if the Fantastic Four superheroes will indeed feature in Deadpool & Wolverine, the potential crossover makes sense given Deadpool's history of comedic interactions with various superheroes, including the Fantastic Four. The contrast in their personalities — the more serious and structured Fantastic Four versus Deadpool's playful and unpredictable nature — sets the stage for entertaining and unconventional encounters, blending humor and action in storytelling.
