Redfall has undergone a recent hotfix aimed at enhancing world difficulty and the co-op experience. Developed by Arkane, the acclaimed studio behind titles like Dishonored and Prey, Redfall is an open-world co-op looter shooter that initially faced a tepid reception after its mid-2023 launch. The game was plagued by numerous bugs, performance issues, and lackluster design elements, denting Xbox's otherwise strong first-party lineup for the year.

Since its debut, Redfall has received three major updates, demonstrating Arkane's dedication to rectifying and enhancing the vampire-slaying shooter. Previous updates have notably improved the game's stability, accessibility, and introduced stealth takedowns, a feature conspicuously absent at launch. Moreover, the long-awaited 60 FPS performance mode was added for Xbox Series X and S players in October, addressing a previously contentious omission. Arkane has also begun rolling out new content, such as the UV-powered sniper rifle, The Basilisk, in its latest major update.

With Redfall showing signs of improvement following its lackluster debut, Arkane is now implementing a small hotfix. Bethesda Support outlined the update on Twitter, emphasizing four key improvements. Two fixes specifically target co-op issues, addressing gear and progress loss upon disconnection, and enhancing the reliability of vampire petrification in co-op. Additionally, the game's world difficulty has been adjusted to better align with player levels. Furthermore, a crucial story dialogue involving the character Amelia has been rectified, ensuring audibility in New Game Plus.

Despite the new hotfix, reports from players indicate that Redfall's Amelia memorial dialogue still fails to trigger in New Game Plus. It is likely that Arkane will provide further updates on this issue in the near future or address it comprehensively with the next hotfix or update. Meanwhile, players eagerly anticipate the confirmed post-launch DLC, with inquiries about new content garnering attention. While Arkane has confirmed the introduction of two new playable characters as DLC, no official details have been disclosed to date.

Having dedicated a considerable portion of the year to refining and enhancing Redfall, Arkane appears poised to commence the release of its planned DLC. Whether this will involve a substantial overhaul akin to Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty or simply introduce new weapons and characters remains to be seen. Nevertheless, fans can anticipate fresh Redfall content in the coming months.
