Engaging with the core game design of Dragon’s Dogma 2 involves recruiting Pawns made by other players. While Pawns are meant to be swapped out regularly, there are times when players may wish to bring back a particularly valuable Pawn. Fortunately, Capcom has provided multiple avenues for rehiring dismissed Pawns in the game. Here's an overview of how it can be done.

How to Bring Back a Pawn in DD2

Players have several options to rehire Pawns who have departed from their party.

Accessing Previously Hired Pawns

The Grand Riftstone is a special Riftstone that provides a detailed Rift menu, enabling players to refine their search for a Pawn using specific criteria. By choosing 'View Previously Hired Pawns' at the Grand Riftstone within the Rift, players can see a comprehensive list of all Pawns that have accompanied them previously, including their current level and the RC cost to re-summon them.

Adding to Favorites

Players can mark hired Pawns as favorites, making it easier to distinguish them from others. These Pawns can then be directly summoned from the favorites menu when needed.

Once a Pawn is favorited, it can always be located through a Grand Riftstone (like the one in Vernworth). Select 'View Favorited Pawns' in the Rift menu to see all Pawns in the favorites list.

Utilizing Pawn ID

Each Pawn is assigned a unique Pawn ID. By noting this ID before dismissing a Pawn or finding it on external platforms, players can summon that specific Pawn by entering the Pawn Code at a Grand Riftstone. Choose 'Search by Pawn ID' in the Rift menu.

Friends’ Assistance

Pawns created by friends on the player’s Steam, PlayStation, or Xbox friends list can be hired at no cost, regardless of their level. To enlist friends’ Pawns, locate a Grand Riftstone and opt for 'Friends' Pawns' to view all available Pawns.

Riftstone Special Feature

In DD2, each Riftstone has a unique function. The Riftstone of Remembrance exclusively displays Pawns previously hired by the player. These Pawns will adjust to the player's level at the time of rehiring, reflecting their current experience. This specialized Riftstone is situated in North Vermund along the road linking Melve and Vernworth.

Do Pawns Level Up in DD2?

Absolutely! Every time a player rests in an inn or at home, the main Pawn's level, gear, vocation, stats, and skills are updated and shared with the network. Subsequent summonings of this Pawn will reflect the updated level, with the RC cost adjusted accordingly. This cost increases if the Pawn's level surpasses that of the summoner.
