Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis, like any other MMO where progression is important, has been facing a common issue: the disparity between new and veteran players. As the game introduces more high-level content that requires increasingly powerful gear, it becomes challenging for new and returning players to keep up with the core endgame community. While this problem isn't as prominent in Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis, as much of the game's content can be completed solo, the development team is actively addressing it.

In an interview with Series Producer Yuya Kimura, Game Rant discussed how the game's significant December update is mainly aimed at alleviating some of the challenges faced by new players, along with providing additional benefits for all players. With faster leveling, more opportunities for customization, and a smoother gearing process, players can now focus more on the gameplay they enjoy rather than getting caught up in complex progression systems.

Easier Leveling in Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis

The leveling process for new players in PSO2 NGS has undergone a significant improvement with this update. Combat Sectors, filled with enemies, now offer a permanent 300% experience boost, making the grinding process much more efficient. Kimura also mentioned that players will receive better equipment as they progress, ensuring their gear stays up-to-date throughout their leveling journey.

Sub-class leveling in PSO2 NGS has also become easier, as these classes have historically leveled at half the rate of the player's main class. With the latest update, sub-class experience gain has nearly doubled to 90%, offering a welcome boost and allowing players to experiment more easily with class combinations.

Enhanced Accessibility in Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis Updates

This update is the latest in a series of updates designed to make PSO2 NGS content more accessible. In October, Duel Quests were made easier with an extended time limit and reduced enemy HP, while a November update made the Sign of the Planetbreaker encounter more manageable with relaxed failure conditions and simplified mechanics, among other changes.

Accompanying the major PSO2 NGS update is the Super Genesis Festival, a campaign running until January 30 that offers players numerous benefits. Participants can use the salon to customize their characters without purchasing salon passes, complete limited-time quests for special rewards, and claim various other bonuses throughout the event.
