An imaginative Pokemon fan has envisioned two fresh Mega Evolutions for Darmanitan. Unconventional designs are prevalent in the vibrant community of this adored Japanese franchise.

Originally debuting in Generation 5, Darmanitan is a Fire-type Pokemon resembling a reddish ape. Unlike its counterparts, Darmanitan does not evolve further. However, both Darmanitan and its earlier form, Darumaka, have Ice-type versions that can be found in the Galar region, the backdrop for the eighth generation of Pokemon games. One artist has taken the initiative to craft Mega Evolutions for Darmanitan and its Galarian variant.

Recently shared on the Pokemon subreddit, user EliteRobo04 unveiled Mega Evolutions for Darmanitan and its Galarian form, named Mega Darmanitan Z and Mega Darmanitan A respectively. Mega Darmanitan Z, a Fire/Psychic type, possesses the Psychic Surge ability, while the Ice/Fire-type Mega Darmanitan A carries Flash Fire. These two Mega Evolutions are essentially blends of the two Darmanitan types and their Zen Modes, as per EliteRobo04. Darmanitan transitions into a Fire/Psychic type upon entering Zen Mode, while the Galarian Darmanitan, a prominent Ice-type Pokemon in the series, transforms into an Ice/Fire type.

In addition to conceptualizing Mega Evolutions for Darmanitan and its Galarian version, EliteRobo04 has also recently designed cover art for a hypothetical third installment in the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet games. This theoretical Pokemon Viridian features a mutated Cyclizar that incorporates elements from Koraidon and Miraidon in its design, serving as the mascot. This game would revolve around the narratives of the respective professors in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Professor Sada and Professor Turo, altering reality by merging the past and future through time manipulation.

Fan-Created Mega Evolutions in the Pokemon Universe

Following in the footsteps of EliteRobo04, various artists have created original Mega Evolutions for Pokemon. For instance, Reddit user JayBerJabber devised a Mega Evolution for Flygon. While preserving Flygon's Ground/Dragon attributes, this evolution introduces new armor-like elements on the head, torso, wings, and tail. Furthermore, JayBerJabber crafted a Shiny version of Mega Flygon, replacing its original green and red color scheme with yellow and blue hues.

Presently, there are 46 Pokemon species capable of Mega Evolution. Notably, Charizard and Mewtwo, the latter being one of the most potent Legendary Pokemon in terms of raw statistics, possess two Mega forms each. Game Freak's upcoming Pokemon Legends: Z-A, scheduled for a 2025 release, might delve into the origins of Mega Evolutions. The game's backdrop in Lumiose City, inspired by the real-world capital of France, could introduce novel regional variations as well.
