A Pokemon GO enthusiast appears to have struck gold with the discovery of an extraordinarily scarce shunundo Bagon. While not as sought-after as the coveted hundos in Pokemon GO, nundos are a collector's dream due to their rarity.
The Community Days stand out as a favorite among Pokemon GO fans, offering a chance to capture exceptionally rare shiny Pokemon. Moreover, these events present a prime opportunity to secure shiny versions of 100% IV Pokemon. While envy brewed among many players witnessing a newcomer catch a shundo Bagon in Pokemon GO, another astonishing find surfaced, eclipsing the rarity of the former.
Shared on the Pokemon GO subreddit, user kable12105 showcases their perplexity upon encountering a Bagon that left them questioning their luck. The conundrum arises from the Pokemon being a shunundo, the rarest possible catch of a specific species in Pokemon GO. Although snagged during the Community Day, numerous factors contribute to the extreme rarity of acquiring a shunundo.
The Rarity of Shunundos Compared to Shundos
Hundos denote Pokemon with perfect 100% IV stats, while shundos represent shiny variants of hundos. On the contrary, nundos possess the lowest possible IV stats, scoring 0 out of 15 in each category. When shiny, they are dubbed shunundos.
The odds of encountering a nundo versus a hundo in the wild are identical, both standing at 1/4096. However, various factors come into play significantly enhancing the likelihood of encountering a hundo. For instance, weather boosts in Pokemon GO quadruple the odds, while non-wild encounters like raids, eggs, and others escalate the chances nearly twentyfold. Additionally, lucky trades further boost the odds. Conversely, nundos can solely be found in the wild, rendering a shunundo caught on a regular day an astonishing 1 in nearly 2 million probability.
Despite slight odds improvement during Community Day due to shiny rate boosts, many fans advised the player to preserve it as a memento. Several emphasized their inability to capture a shundo, let alone a shunundo. One player even expressed a preference for collecting nundos over hundos. Nonetheless, the Pokemon's utter uselessness in battles casts a shadow over the player's triumphant moment.
