It looks like Konami's Silent Hill 2 remake and Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater could be on their way to PlayStation in 2024. This information comes from Sony's latest peek at some of the most highly anticipated upcoming PS5 games.
The revamped version of Silent Hill 2 was initially revealed during the Silent Hill Transmission event in October 2022. On the other hand, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was first showcased at the May 2023 PlayStation Showcase. There is still no official release date or window for either of the remakes.
However, it seems like both Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater and the Silent Hill 2 remake could hit the PS5 before the end of the year. Both titles are mentioned on a newly published PlayStation page providing an overview of the most significant games set to reach Sony's latest console in 2024.
Big Remakes Potentially Arriving on PS5 in 2024
- Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
- Silent Hill 2
As for the Silent Hill 2 remake, the idea of the game nearing completion is likely, especially since Bloober Team announced a completely different project in late December. Bloober Team is a mid-sized studio with around 200 employees, according to publicly available LinkedIn data. Given the studio's historical tendency to focus on one project at a time, it's probable that the studio wouldn't start a new development effort if the Silent Hill 2 remake wasn't close to completion.
The potential release of Metal Gear Solid Delta in 2024 is harder to evaluate, as Konami kept the project fairly secretive until recently. However, it is widely believed that the Snake Eater remake has been in development since at least the second half of 2021 when its existence was first reported. Therefore, a late 2024 release wouldn't be out of the question, as a three-year development cycle is a fairly standard timeframe for producing a modern remake of this kind.
The Silent Hill 2 remake has already been confirmed as a timed PS5 console exclusive, set to also launch on PC. Metal Gear Solid Delta will have a broader availability, with Konami previously confirming that the Snake Eater remake is planned to simultaneously launch on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
