Phasmophobia has recently undergone a significant update, bringing about various modifications and introducing a special event coinciding with Easter. The renowned ghost hunting game has a history of hosting themed events for occasions like April Fools' Day, Halloween, and Christmas.

The British developer Kinetic Games has been actively refining Phasmophobia since its inception in late 2020 during the early access phase. The horror game, built on the Unity engine, has made consistent strides in enhancing its graphics, incorporating new ghost varieties for players to pursue, and revamping its equipment system. Kinetic Games remains dedicated to providing regular updates for Phasmophobia, with the latest one incorporating a unique event into the lauded cooperative gameplay.

The most recent update for Phasmophobia, labeled Update v0.9.6.0 or the Easter 2024 update, has ushered in a two-week special event to commemorate the holiday season. Alongside numerous bug fixes and alterations, this update has also revamped the game's ID card system. Despite being recognized as one of the premier horror games on Steam, the 0.9.6.0 version of Phasmophobia is not without issues, notably a lobby effect glitch that persists even after event completion, as per the changelog.

The ID card of a player showcases their statistics and in-game progress, while achievements can be monitored through collectibles and trophies in Phasmophobia. Similar to past events in Phasmophobia, the Easter 2024 event will grant special ID card badges and trophies to players who fulfill a series of objectives.

Previous updates like v0.9.5.0 revamped the in-game equipment store, while the preceding patch introduced a new lighting system for Phasmophobia, incorporating technologies such as Eye Adaptation and Screen Space Global Illumination (SSGI). The visual enhancements resulting from the substantial changes in Update v.0.9.4.0 have rendered Phasmophobia's visuals more lifelike, thereby enhancing the game's already immersive ambiance.

In a roadmap disclosed in January, Kinetic Games expressed its intent to launch Phasmophobia fully in 2024. This 1.0 release will encompass new ghost designs, interactions, and overhauls of the hunting mechanism and events, among other features. Meanwhile, the awaited console versions of Phasmophobia continue to face delays. Initially slated for release in August, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S ports were postponed to October following a fire at Kinetic Games' office. However, due to challenges in adapting to remote work, the console versions of Phasmophobia saw indefinite delays.
