Pocketpair is cautioning non-Steam Palworld players against loading their previous multiplayer save data after reports emerged of players losing their progress in the latest Palworld version.

The 0.2.0.6 update of Palworld was first released to Steam users on April 4, followed by its availability on the Xbox platform five days later. While the update brought various new features and bug fixes, it also introduced issues, including a new bug that caused incompatibility with older multiplayer save data.

Recent Palworld Update Disrupts Older Multiplayer Saves

Following the release of the April 2024 Palworld update on Xbox consoles, numerous players reported losing their multiplayer progress. Pocketpair acknowledged the issue, confirming that multiplayer save data from previous versions is not loading correctly on the 0.2.0.6 build. The root cause is under investigation by the developers.

Bug Affects Non-Steam Versions of Palworld

According to communications from Pocketpair and fan feedback on social media, the bug seems to be isolated to the Xbox version of Palworld, including the Microsoft Store version for PC Game Pass users. While the timeframe for resolving the issue is uncertain, Pocketpair has a track record of addressing critical bugs promptly, often within days.

Additionally, the 0.2.0.6 update introduced a separate bug preventing players from placing eggs in incubators across all versions of Palworld, including Steam. Fortunately, rebuilding the affected incubator resolves the issue. Pocketpair has identified the cause and plans to release a fix in the coming days, as announced in an April 9 tweet.

As an early access game, encountering such challenges is normal for Palworld. Despite this, the latest update has been well-received by players for its quality-of-life enhancements and new content, such as the introduction of Bellanoir, the game's inaugural raid boss.
