The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 community is in an uproar over the Longbow sniper rifle, a contentious weapon that has been a topic of heated debate among players lately. Ever since its introduction in November, this high-speed sniper rifle has been a source of controversy.

While Modern Warfare 3 offers a range of sniper rifles from heavy bolt-action to lighter semi-auto options, the Longbow stands out for its unique attributes. With exceptional handling, hip fire accuracy, and fire rate, the Longbow almost functions like a long-range shotgun, excelling in close-to-mid-range combat despite its shorter one-hit kill range compared to other snipers.

Concerns came to a head when Reddit user RedTree40 voiced worries on the Modern Warfare 3 subreddit. They highlighted that unlike other sniper rifles, the Longbow benefits from standard aim assist, granting users hipfire and rotational aim advantages in addition to the typical ADS aim assist. RedTree40 and many others in the community believe that this, coupled with the weapon's existing strengths, gives it an unfair advantage in the hands of skilled controller players. Calls for a nerf have been echoing across the community, with suggestions ranging from rolling back the enhanced aim assist to more significant adjustments.

Some players have also raised concerns about the JAK Tyrant 762 aftermarket part for the Longbow, introduced in Modern Warfare 3's Season 2 update. This attachment enhances the Longbow's damage, range, and ADS speed while sacrificing bullet velocity, fire rate, and rechamber time.

Despite a recent update that toned down the JAK Tyrant, the Longbow kit remains a potent choice diverging from the typical Call of Duty sniper rifle formula. While Sledgehammer Games has not confirmed any plans to rebalance the Longbow, the mounting criticism suggests changes may be on the horizon.

Although the latest Call of Duty update addressed some weapon tweaks in Warzone, the firearms in Modern Warfare 3 remained untouched except for the Soulrender melee weapon. The patch also included enhancements to the new Juggermosh mode and the Aegis Imperialis Riot Shield blueprint.
