An Animal Crossing: New Horizons player has brought to life an island inspired by the original GameCube game. Many Animal Crossing games have been released since the GameCube version, but some Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans still yearn for the nostalgia of the original.

Despite the numerous game design improvements made in the Animal Crossing series over the years, the original game still possesses elements that have not been reproduced. This includes grumpy villagers, playable NES games, and a dump that could accumulate items. Other absent features in New Horizons from the original game are the police station, post office, and multiple Nook's Cranny upgrades. As these are only found in the original game, players occasionally revisit it. One Animal Crossing: New Horizons enthusiast has dedicated their island to replicating the aesthetic of the GameCube title.

Reddit user ButIDigress79 recently shared a video showcasing a New Horizons island themed after the original GameCube game. The video starts with the player standing outside their house adorned with a Gyroid pattern and Resetti Model item. Similar to the first game, there are four akin houses connected by a stone path, with a sign in the middle resembling the bulletin board. Walking north reveals a train station with a snowman and a standee of Porter. To the west of the station lies the dump and a ground pattern that closely resembles its appearance in the GameCube game. The video then transitions to a pier in the island's lake reminiscent of the first Animal Crossing.

While a portrait of C.J. is placed by the lake, the fishing NPC in the GameCube game was Chip. Like Porter, Tortimer is represented by a standee, positioned by a well, reminiscent of the Wishing Well. Nearby leaf pile patterns differ significantly from the modern item of the same name. Similar to the first game, the New Horizons Museum is located on the bottom half of the map. The only villager featured in the video is Bob, a fitting nod to the character's presence in the GameCube game. Notable differences between the GameCube game and this island are observed in Nook's Cranny, house designs, and immovable balls.

Through skillful use of Animal Crossing: New Horizons' extensive customization options, the gamer has meticulously crafted this GameCube-inspired island. Although ButIDigress79's video indicates the locations of the Museum and Nook's Cranny, the police station and post office remain unseen. It is currently uncertain if they have been recreated in other parts of the island or if the Reddit user has omitted them.
