No Man's Sky, known for its Space Exploration and Survival gameplay, initially lacked ship customization options. With the introduction of the Orbital Update, players can now tailor their starships to suit their preferences and needs while journeying through the vast universe.

In No Man's Sky: Orbital, the ability to construct and personalize ships by salvaging parts from scrapped vessels or purchasing from vendors has been unlocked. This feature becomes accessible upon reaching a Space Station, offering players the opportunity to craft their dream ship. Here's a comprehensive guide on acquiring ship components and building a customized starship.

Acquiring Ship Parts

To obtain ship parts, players must dismantle existing ships by visiting a Space Station and using the Starship Outfitting Terminal. Located at the rear left side of the station, this terminal allows players to initiate a "Begin Salvage Analysis" process to identify salvageable components from their current ship. It's crucial to have the ship intended for scrapping set as the active one. If the ship is severely damaged, players can switch to the desired ship within the Anomaly located outside the station, fly it out, and dock it inside the station for scrapping.

Following the Salvage Analysis, players can either extract valuable components for units exchange or retrieve a ship module. Ship modules are essential for constructing a new ship, enabling players to select the desired module for retrieval. It's important to note that ship parts are specific to certain ship types; for instance, parts from a fighter ship cannot be used in an explorer or hauler but can be utilized in building a new fighter ship.

Obtaining a Reactor

Reactors stand out as unique ship components as they can be directly purchased at any Space Station. Visit the Ship Technology Merchant to acquire reactors of varying tiers by exchanging Nanites. Additionally, Reactors can be obtained as rewards from Nexus Missions.

Building Your Ship

Once you have gathered essential components like Reactor Core, Wings, Engine, and Fuselage, proceed to the Starship Fabricator on any Space Station to commence ship assembly. By selecting an empty slot, all suitable ship parts will be displayed, with owned parts prioritized and highlighted for easy identification.

Upon filling all slots, players can finalize the assembly of their new custom starship.
