Nintendo Switch Online has pleasantly shocked N64 enthusiasts by introducing the racing games Extreme-G and Iggy's Reckin' Balls without prior notice. Typically, Nintendo provides advance notice before adding games, especially to the Expansion Pack tier.
The Expansion Pack tier grants subscribers access to all lower NSO tier games along with Sega Genesis, Game Boy Advance, and N64 titles, plus extra benefits. Nintendo usually discloses upcoming games well in advance, allowing subscribers to anticipate the games from these platforms. However, this time, the latest additions came as a complete surprise.
In a surprising move, Nintendo has enriched the Expansion Pack tier of Nintendo Switch Online with the addition of N64 games Extreme-G and Iggy's Reckin' Balls. Extreme-G, a sci-fi racing game from 1997, received positive reviews upon its release. Iggy's Reckin' Balls, another N64 racing game, challenges players to race up towers while collecting power-ups for an edge over opponents. Reviews for Iggy's Reckin' Balls were more mixed compared to Extreme-G.
Nostalgic Nintendo 64 fans can now enjoy two more games from the console's library. While many classic N64 games are already available on Switch Online, these lesser-known titles are likely to feature in future NSO N64 updates. Nonetheless, there are still prominent titles awaiting their debut, although fans should temper their expectations for their inclusion.
