Upcoming Prince of Persia Game Release Details Leaked

Highlights

  • The release date for the Rogue Prince of Persia is rumored to be May 14, 2024.
  • An anticipated roguelite game from Evil Empire, associated with Dead Cells, is poised for an announcement on April 10.
  • The game is anticipated to debut in early access, excluding immediate availability on PlayStation consoles.

A new entry in the Prince of Persia series is set to release on May 14, following an announcement in mid-April as per a reputable industry insider. Unlike the recent mainline games, such as PoP: The Lost Crown, this upcoming installment is expected to be a spin-off.

The game's existence came to light through a recent report by Tom Henderson from Insider Gaming, indicating that it will be a rougelite developed by Evil Empire, the studio famous for Dead Cells. Henderson also disclosed that the game will be titled The Rogue Prince of Persia.

Impending Revelation of The Rogue Prince of Persia

The insider has shared more details regarding the game, mentioning that the official reveal of The Rogue Prince of Persia is planned for April 10, with the release scheduled for May 14, according to Henderson's tweet. The game is expected to launch on Steam Early Access, marking a departure from Ubisoft's prior avoidance of Valve's platform upon release.

The decision for an early access launch implies that the game will not be available on PlayStation consoles immediately as the PlayStation Store does not support early access releases. While Xbox offers a Game Preview program, there is no indication that The Rogue Prince of Persia will participate in it.

As reported in early April by Henderson, the game has been in development since around 2019, with an art style heavily influenced by Franco-Belgian comics. Similar to Dead Cells, post-launch support is expected for The Rogue Prince of Persia, although details on DLC distribution remain uncertain.

If this leak holds true, Ubisoft will have announced and released two Prince of Persia games following the 2020 reveal of The Sands of Time remake. While the remake's release date is still unknown, the franchise seems poised for longevity with the rumored roguelite and the content roadmap for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.
