Serving as a sequel to the beloved 2019 farming game My Time at Portia, My Time at Sandrock faced high expectations from its fan base prior to launch. Fortunately, the game, reminiscent of Stardew Valley, proved to be a success upon its November 2023 release, garnering an 80 Metacritic score on PC and an 88% 'Very Positive' rating on Steam. One of the standout features introduced in Sandrock was its online co-op mode, allowing up to four players to collaborate in building workshops and developing towns. However, the absence of cross-platform play was a notable drawback at launch. Thankfully, Pathea Games has addressed this concern following feedback from players.
During the inaugural Triple-i Initiative showcase on April 10, it was revealed that My Time at Sandrock will soon support cross-platform multiplayer functionality across PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. Although no specific release date was provided, the update is expected to arrive in June.
Notably, the Triple-i Initiative showcase also featured announcements related to multiplayer features in other indie games. The creators of the popular roguelike shooter Brotato disclosed plans to introduce couch co-op support in a forthcoming update. Additionally, upcoming co-op titles like Thunder Lotus' 33 Immortals and Passtech Games' Ravenswatch: The Fall of Avalon were highlighted during the event.
