Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone have recently received updates that primarily aim to rebalance weapons and address bugs. Notably, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's Ranked Play mode underwent significant changes.

Treyarch, the developer responsible for MW3's Ranked mode, announced a test phase to explore the viability of additional weapons in the meta. Previously, players heavily favored weapons like the MCW, Rival-9, and WSP Swarm in Ranked Play due to restrictions or inefficiency of other options. While a limited weapon pool is common in competitive Call of Duty, Treyarch is striving to diversify this aspect.

The latest update for Modern Warfare 3 allows previously banned weapons such as the BP50, Holger 556, HRM-9, and more to be used in Ranked Play until April 23, pending feedback and data analysis. Additionally, both MW3 and Warzone underwent adjustments to six weapons, including buffs to the MTZ-556, Holger 556, Striker, and MW2's M16. Notable nerfs were applied to the RAM-9 and the WSP Swarm, which now has reduced flinch resistance by 81%. Furthermore, the Haymaker's JAK Maglift Kit was nerfed exclusively in MW3, and a bug affecting the MORS sniper rifle's optics alignment was fixed.

The update also revamped Modern Warfare 3's frag grenades, enhancing their intermediate explosive damage by 15% but reducing the explosive radius by 22%, requiring more accurate throws for effective use. While Warzone received the radius nerf for frag grenades, it did not get the damage boost. Additionally, the update included various bug fixes and minor UI enhancements, like correcting loadout errors during matches and displaying proper icons for the MORS in the killfeed.

The upcoming major update for Call of Duty is anticipated to coincide with Season 3 Reloaded in early May. Looking ahead, a dataminer recently leaked details about weapons, killstreaks, and gear expected in Call of Duty 2024, hinting at the potential return of the Last Stand perk.

Rumors suggest that Treyarch's Call of Duty 2024, possibly named Black Ops Gulf War, will be set in the early 1990s. An official announcement is anticipated in the coming months.
