Fans of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 are gearing up for the imminent launch of Season 3 on April 3. Activision has unveiled a detailed roadmap outlining the new content coming to core multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone. This update promises to be the most content-rich in the game's history.

Seasonal updates post-launch are a key way for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 to directly address player concerns. Season 3 appears to be a significant step forward in this regard. The roadmap for Season 3 highlights a strong emphasis on enhancing the core 6v6 map pool of Modern Warfare 3, signaling a move towards resolving a long-standing criticism of the game.

Revamping the Map Pool

The release of Modern Warfare 3 so soon after MW2 took many fans by surprise, as Call of Duty titles typically have longer development cycles. This quick turnaround limited the amount of original content in MW3, leading to a reliance on content from previous games in the franchise.

While the campaign and Zombies modes faced criticism for various reasons, the multiplayer map pool was a major point of contention. At launch, all 6v6 maps in Modern Warfare 3 were recycled from 2009's Modern Warfare 2, diminishing the game's unique multiplayer identity.

Subsequent in-game seasons have been gradually rectifying this issue by introducing new 6v6 maps. Some of the original maps added through seasonal updates include Greece, Meat, Rio, Departures, Stash House, and Vista.

Setting a New Standard

While Season 3 will include remastered versions of classic maps like Das Haus, it will also introduce six entirely new 6v6 maps. The season kicks off with Emergency, Six Star, and Tanked, followed by Grime, Growhouse, and Checkpoint. With five out of the six maps being entirely original, Season 3 significantly expands the unique content available in MW3's multiplayer.

Although Growhouse is a remastered map from Call of Duty: Vanguard, the inclusion of five completely new maps in Season 3 surpasses the number of original maps introduced in previous seasons. This influx of fresh content aims to silence criticisms surrounding Modern Warfare 3's map pool once and for all.
