When delving into the world of Manor Lords, players aiming to engage in trade with neighboring lords might encounter an obstacle. Establishing a Trade Route requires the construction of essential structures like the Trading Post and the Livestock Trading Post.
An issue arises when a player constructs a Trading Post and receives a message indicating that the Trading Post lacks a connection to the King's Road, a crucial prerequisite for any successful Trade Route. Resolving this hiccup can be perplexing, especially when seemingly connected roads fail to meet the requirement. Here's a guide to troubleshoot this problem.
Locating the King's Road in Manor Lords
Identifying the King's Road
The King's Road serves as a continuous, meandering path linking all regions on the map. This road is inherent in every campaign and serves as the sole conduit for trade between different Manor Lord territories. Distinguishing the King's Road from player-built roads can be challenging as they share a similar appearance.
To pinpoint the King's Road, commence from the border of the player's controlled area and seek unbroken roads leading from external regions. This unbroken path signifies the King's Road. Follow it back to your settlement to identify the nearest connection point to the road. Additionally, the King's Road is visible on the region map (M) through black lines interconnecting various locations. By zooming in and centering the camera on a black line, you can trace the King's Road.
Connecting to the King's Road in Manor Lords
Establishing Links
Utilize the road tool to extend a path from the player's settlement to the King's Road. Any structures erected along connected roads automatically link to the King's Road.
In cases where a Trading Post seems physically linked to the King's Road but triggers an error message, overlay a new road atop the existing one to establish a connection. Alternatively, delete and reconstruct the road network in the vicinity. Rebuilding roads does not incur any costs.
Major vs. Minor Trade Routes
Grasping the Distinction
Two types of trade routes exist:
- Minor Trade Routes: No payment is required; simply configure trade rules to Export/Import/All Trade, assign a horse and a family to the relevant Trading Post, connect it to the King's Road, and let the game manage the rest.
- Major Trade Routes: Initiating a major trade route entails purchasing one by selecting the small oxcart icon on the trade panel. The associated gold cost is displayed alongside the icon. Subsequently, set trade rules to Export/Import/All Trade, designate a horse and family to the Trading Post, and ensure its connection to the King's Road for seamless trading. Items cannot be traded without activating a Major Trade Route.
