When venturing through the alien landscapes of Lightyear Frontier in search of rare minerals, players may stumble upon ancient alien ruins hinting at a bygone civilization. Delving into these ruins and uncovering the alien artifacts hidden within can lead to intriguing rewards. But where exactly can these alien ruins be found, and what purpose do they serve?

Not every structure that appears alien in Lightyear Frontier houses artifacts that unlock new features. Players should focus on the seven specific alien ruins scattered across the game world, rather than their own constructions or the central alien base that is part of a separate questline for advanced players.

Locating the Alien Ruins

There are seven key alien ruins in Lightyear Frontier, each concealing valuable alien artifacts. Refer to the map below for their exact positions:

Although the game features seven unlockable regions, the distribution of the alien ruins is more intricate. The alien ruins can be found in various regions such as Pine Heights, The Meadows, Yellow Forest, Edge Cliffs (two ruins), Lowland Plains, and Tornado Rock Isle.

Locating the alien artifacts within these ruins is relatively straightforward; players need to listen for a distinct shimmering sound emitted by purple rocks, which house the artifacts. These rocks can be broken using tools like the mech’s Spike Saw or the P.I.C.K. Axe. Most artifacts are found within the walls of the ruins or in close proximity.

Utilizing Alien Artifacts

Upon collecting all artifacts within a particular alien ruin, players unlock blueprints for unique alien decorations that enhance the aesthetics of their homesteads. These decorations, ranging from furniture like the Strange Table and Chair to exotic items like the Strange Fountain, contribute to the coziness score of the player's living space.

While these alien decorations may not offer superior functionality compared to standard items, they provide an efficient way to utilize noxious spores dropped by invading weeds and slime that threaten crops. These spores are primarily used in crafting alien decorations, making them a cost-effective choice.

Some of the craftable decoration items unlocked by recovering artifacts from alien ruins include the Strange Table, Chair, Fountain, Vase, Fence, Signpost, and Lamp. It's important to note that the central alien door in the game does not house alien artifacts but instead unlocks access to the final game area, hinting at future quests beyond the current early access version.
