Exploring Galarian Pokemon that would have been perfect additions to the Paldea region in Scarlet & Violet.
Ideal Galarian Pokemon for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Highlights

  • Galarian Pokemon like Nickit & Thievul, Clobbopus & Grapploct, and Yamper & Boltund could have enriched the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet experience.
  • Some of these Pokemon possess unique abilities and stats that could have added depth to the gameplay in Scarlet and Violet.
  • The decision to exclude these Pokemon from Scarlet and Violet was likely made to prioritize the promotion of the new Pokemon introduced in the games.

With the introduction of over 100 new Pokemon to the Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet series, it's no surprise that not every Pokemon from Sword/Shield made the cut. While Paldea is home to Gen 9-exclusive Pokemon and familiar faces from previous generations, there are several Galarian Pokemon that could have seamlessly fit into Paldea's environment.

Although it's probable that the Galarian Starters and Legendary Pokemon will eventually join Scarlet & Violet via 7-Star Tera Raids, some Pokemon would have been wonderful to see from the game's initial release.

Updated on January 22, 2024 by Renri Seong: The release of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet's expansion pass has brought back Pokemon from previous generations, including those from Gen 8's Pokemon Sword & Shield. The Indigo Disk DLC's Blueberry Pokedex now includes 243 entries, mostly comprising returning Pokemon from Gens 1-8. The following list previously featured Galarian Pokemon that were absent in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. It has been updated to replace some existing entries and provide more details about each species listed below.
