Arrowhead Game Studios has announced a new requirement for Helldivers 2 players on PC, who will now need to link their Steam account to an active PlayStation Network account to continue enjoying the game. Since its release in February, Helldivers 2 has been a huge success for Arrowhead and its partner, Sony. While facing initial challenges during the PC and PS5 launch, the game has gained increasing popularity over the past few months, with ongoing updates enhancing the player experience regularly.

The initial hurdles encountered by Helldivers 2 included server problems and capacity issues, preventing many players from accessing the game. Arrowhead Game Studios worked tirelessly to address these issues, from expanding server capacity to fixing networking and bugs. Despite the challenges, players now have been able to engage in battles against the Automaton and Terminid forces in defense of Super Earth. However, to maintain stability, Arrowhead had to disable some features temporarily in the early months.

In a recent development, Arrowhead Game Studios has reintroduced an account linking policy that was disabled at the game's launch for PC players. New Steam players will be required to link their accounts to an active PlayStation Network account starting May 6, while existing players will need to comply by May 30. This change aims to ensure player safety and security, aligning with the standards set by PlayStation and PlayStation Studios games. Originally planned for launch, this requirement was postponed due to ongoing server issues.

For those resistant to the account changes, an alternative option may be available. Players are actively developing a Helldivers 2-inspired game mode using the Forge level creator in Halo Infinite, as no official Xbox release has been confirmed. This fan-made mode, known as Helljumpers, is set to launch in June, with a preview showcased by The Forge Falcons development team.
