Xbox Game Pass is about to welcome a thrilling addition with Dungeons of Hinterberg hitting the scene on July 18th. This upcoming title is a fusion of The Legend of Zelda and Persona, offering a delightful mix of both game series' features.
Unveiled in June 2023, Dungeons of Hinterberg marks the maiden venture by the Austrian studio, Microbird Games. While primarily an action-packed RPG akin to the Zelda universe, it introduces social simulation components, such as a point-based friendship system reminiscent of the Persona series.

Following the confirmation by Curve Games that Dungeons of Hinterberg will premiere on Xbox Game Pass, the release date is now set - July 18th. Apart from PC, the game will also be available on Xbox Series X/S. Microbird is gearing up for a closed playtest before the summer launch of Dungeons of Hinterberg. Interested gamers can sign up for the playtest exclusively on Steam. There's no requirement to pre-order the game to participate, as the pre-orders are not yet live. The closed beta is scheduled to run from May 9th to May 16th.
Besides its genre fusion, Dungeons of Hinterberg stands out with its captivating visuals. Set in a fantasy rendition of the Austrian Alps, specifically around Hinterberg village, the game's graphics draw inspiration from the works of Moebius, the renowned artist known for his vibrant illustrations and unique shading techniques. The game's cel-shaded graphics bring this artistic style to life in an interactive gaming experience.
The narrative follows Luisa, a legal apprentice seeking respite in the Austrian Alps but embarking on a magical adventure in Hinterberg, forming bonds and allies along the way.
Dungeons of Hinterberg is among the showcased titles from the June 2023 Xbox Games Showcase yet to launch. Games like action-adventure South of Midnight, roguelike 33 Immortals, and ARPG Avowed are also eagerly awaited. With Microsoft hinting at another showcase in June 2024, more release dates could be on the horizon.
