Exciting News: Epic Games Store Unveils 2 Free Games for April 4

Highlights

  • Free games rotation every Thursday at 10 am CT on the Epic Games Store
  • The Outer Worlds and Thief added to the lineup from April 4
  • Leaked games by Billbil-kun turn out to be accurate once again

Every week, on Thursdays at 10 am CT, the Epic Games Store refreshes its free game offerings and unveils the upcoming week's selection. As of now, users can no longer grab Call of the Wild: The Angler or Invincible Presents: Atom Eve, but until April 4, they have the chance to claim Islets. Following that, on April 4, The Outer Worlds and Thief will be introduced, enriching the service with two significant additions.

It's interesting to note that both of these free games were actually leaked prior to the official announcement, as hinted by the well-known leaker Billbil-kun. While leaks should always be taken with caution, Billbil-kun has a track record of accurately predicting games for various platforms like PS Plus, EGS, and Xbox Game Pass in the past. Hence, it wasn't entirely surprising to see the games they mentioned, The Outer Worlds on March 27 and Thief shortly before their reveal, being confirmed.

Both games bring solid value and are true to their respective genres. The Outer Worlds presents a sci-fi RPG experience reminiscent of the storytelling in Fallout, featuring captivating companions and a Spacer's Choice Edition on EGS that includes DLC, enhanced graphics, and an increased level cap. Notably, this game was crafted by Obsidian Entertainment, known for its upcoming fantasy RPG Avowed set to release later this year.

  • Islets (March 28 - April 4)
  • The Outer Worlds (April 4 - April 11)
  • Thief (April 4 - April 11)

On the other hand, Thief offers a unique stealth gaming experience, deviating from titles like Assassin's Creed with its first-person perspective, immersive sim elements, and distinctive use of sound design. The game's dark fantasy setting, reminiscent of 19th-century London, sets it apart, despite receiving mixed reviews at launch and later cultivating a dedicated fan base.

While these companion-based RPG and stealth game choices may not cater to everyone's taste, they are sure to please many users. For those who aren't fans of these genres, the silver lining is that new titles will be on the horizon in just a week on the Epic Games Store. The upcoming replacements might offer exactly what they're looking for, but for now, anticipation is the only option for fans.
