At the time of this writing, EA has announced eight games that will be losing their online services throughout 2024. As gamers move on to new games and hardware advances, EA shuts down the online servers and associated features for some of its games. Unfortunately for fans, a variety of EA games were shut down in 2023, including some of the company's most popular classic titles.

In fact, it was just on December 8, 2023 that EA shut down seven of its games. On that day, Battlefield 1943, Battlefield: Bad Company, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Crysis 3, Dante's Inferno, Dead Space 2, and Mirror's Edge Catalyst all had their online services shut down. This effectively means that some of the modes tied to those games, like Dead Space 2's multiplayer, are gone forever, which is disappointing, to say the least.

While it's always sad whenever EA shuts down the online servers for its games, at least the company usually gives fans significant advanced notice before it pulls the plug. It's because of this that fans already know of eight EA games that are getting shut down in 2024, with seven of those games getting shut down on March 21. On March 21, 2024, the online servers for F1 2011, F1 2012, F1 2013, F1 2014, F1 Race Stars, Micromachines World Series, and Rocket Arena will all be shut down. The eighth game EA has confirmed will be losing its online services in 2024 is Madden NFL 20, which is being shut down on April 15.

EA Games Shutting Down 2024

  • F1 2011 - March 21
  • F1 2012 - March 21
  • F1 2013 - March 21
  • F1 2014 - March 21
  • F1 Race Stars - March 21
  • Micromachines World Series - March 21
  • Rocket Arena - March 21
  • Madden NFL 20 - April 15

It's probable that the F1 games are being shut down due to expiring licenses. In fact, all the F1 games losing their online services on March 21, 2024 have already been delisted anyway, meaning no new players have been able to play them unless they managed to track down physical copies. As far as the other games go, Rocket Arena being shut down has been a long time coming, as the live service game stopped receiving substantial new updates not long after its launch and doomed itself by being a premium release despite having a free-to-play setup. Not to mention Rocket Arena has already been delisted as well. And sports games like Madden NFL 20 are shut down so regularly that fans are likely used to it by now.

It should be noted that it's entirely possible EA will be shutting down even more games beyond the ones listed here. For now, though, EA fans only need to worry about March 21 and April 15.
