Following the introduction of Destiny 2's Into the Light update, the game experienced a remarkable spike in concurrent players on Steam, marking its highest numbers in seven months and sustaining a robust player base. On April 9, Destiny 2's Into the Light update brought a plethora of exciting features for both returning enthusiasts and newcomers. This substantial patch showcased the Onslaught PvE mode, the Hall of Champions social space, the return of BRAVE weapons, new PvP maps, and more, proving enticing enough to significantly boost Destiny 2's popularity.

Destiny 2 achieved a peak player count on Steam exceeding 134,000 users on the day of the Into the Light update, according to SteamDB. This peak marked the highest since September, when Destiny 2 attracted around 141,000 Steam users. Subsequent to the release of the recent update on April 9, Destiny 2 has sustained its newfound popularity by consistently surpassing 90,000 concurrent Steam users daily. This represents a substantial improvement compared to previous months, with Destiny 2 averaging just under 40,000 concurrent Steam users in March. The game's surge in popularity on Xbox and PlayStation platforms likely mirrors this trend.
