Following the Final Shape developer stream, Bungie releases even more details on Destiny 2's upcoming Prismatic subclass including all the available abilities, fragments, and more. It was a significant week for fans of Bungie's online shooter as the studio's planned final livestream event showcased a lot of big details for Destiny 2's upcoming Final Shape expansion. Fans saw the confirmation of a new enemy faction called The Dread, brand-new exotic class armor that lets players combine perks from other exotic armor, as well as more gameplay from inside The Pale Heart zone.

However, the standout announcement for many fans was the introduction of the new Prismatic subclass in Destiny 2's The Final Shape. Setting it apart from other subclasses, Prismatic offers a high level of customization, allowing players to blend both Light and Dark abilities for a diverse range of gameplay options. While the livestream merely teased the possibilities, Bungie's recent blog post unveiled a plethora of new information, including a comprehensive list of available abilities for each class.

As anticipated, Bungie confirmed that the Super, melee, grenade, and Aspect slots feature a variety of Light and Dark abilities spanning all five damage types. Hunters, Titans, and Warlocks can choose from all movement modes and class abilities, including subclass-specific ones like Phoenix Dive, Acrobat’s Dodge, and Thruster. As players venture into The Final Shape, the Prismatic subclass in Destiny 2 will begin with a preset build that can be altered later on. Hunters will emphasize evasiveness and agility, Titans can incapacitate enemies for a powerful follow-up, while Warlocks adopt a summoner role capable of area control, damage dealing, and triggering passive bonuses such as Feed the Void.

Unveiling Destiny 2's Prismatic Subclass Transcendence Mechanism

Alongside detailing each of Destiny 2's Prismatic subclasses, the blog post also shed light on the new Transcendence mechanic available to this class. Players discovered that a meter for both light and dark will fill up as damage is inflicted or buffs are applied. Upon reaching capacity, players can trigger Transcendence, enabling melee and grenade regeneration, damage resistance, and increased weapon damage. Additionally, each class receives a new grenade that inflicts both Light and Dark damage.

  • Hunter's Hailfire Spike Grenade - A sticky grenade that can attach to surfaces before unleashing a stasis storm. After a brief period, the stasis transforms into a solar cyclone, incinerating any remaining targets within its radius.
  • Titan's Electrified Snare Grenade - Detonating into a Strand and Arc burst, this grenade ensnares targets caught in the explosion, chaining harmful arc lightning between them and nearby foes.
  • Warlock's Freezing Singularity Grenade - Upon impact, a miniature black hole is deployed, encircled by swirling stasis energy. After ensnaring enemies, the black hole collapses, causing suppression and significant damage to all nearby adversaries.

Rounding off the blog post was the discussion on Fragments, with Bungie confirming a total of 21 Fragments for the Prismatic subclass, a notable increase from the usual 14-16 found in Light and Darkness subclasses in Destiny 2. To accommodate this significant expansion, most Prismatic Aspect Fragment slots have been raised to 3. Furthermore, once a fragment is unlocked on one class, it remains accessible for use on the other two classes, eliminating the need for reacquisition when switching classes.
