  • Legacy Gear power level caps are removed in The Final Shape, welcoming back returning players to explore expansion content.

Exciting changes are on the horizon for Destiny 2's Power system with the upcoming launch of The Final Shape expansion on June 4. Originally introduced during the Destiny 2 Showcase 2023, Fireteam Power is receiving updated tweaks to foster greater camaraderie among players in the new expansion.

Power levels in Destiny 2 are intricately tied to the gear equipped by players, with each piece contributing to the overall Power score. The innovative Fireteam Power feature allows gamers to engage in challenging endgame activities with friends, irrespective of their individual Power Levels. By granting a boost to lower-level players, Fireteam Power ensures everyone can partake in the action, standing just a tad below the Power Leader in the fireteam.

In a recent update, the developers announced a revamped Power system for The Final Shape, aimed at simplifying gameplay and welcoming more players to the Destiny 2 universe. A notable change includes the elimination of power caps on Legacy Gear items, a move intended to entice former players back into the game and provide unfettered access to expansion content.

Enhanced Power Dynamics in The Final Shape

Disassembling gear in Destiny 2 remains a primary method for acquiring resources. Acknowledging that many players may have discarded older gear due to prior power restrictions, Bungie plans to introduce methods for players to reacquire these items.

Furthermore, The Final Shape will feature a refined Activity Power system categorizing activities into two distinct groups: Power Enabled and Power Disabled. While the former imposes power caps affecting combat effectiveness, the latter disregards power levels in determining difficulty. Campaigns, seasonal missions, and free-roam areas fall under Power Disabled, whereas Vanguard playlists, Nightfalls, raids, and more are classified as Power Enabled activities.
