A Destiny 2 fan has expressed their admiration for another iconic Bungie-created series within the game. The fan utilized the extensive armor selection in Destiny 2 to recreate the renowned Halo character, Master Chief, as depicted in Halo: Combat Evolved.

Despite the Halo franchise being under the control of Microsoft-owned 343 Industries since 2011, many Halo enthusiasts still strongly associate Bungie with the series. Bungie itself has informally acknowledged and celebrated this history within Destiny 2. In late 2021, the Bungie 30th Anniversary DLC pack for Destiny 2 included several visual references to other Bungie titles, such as the original Marathon series, Myth: The Fallen Lords, and Halo: Combat Evolved. The Halo references featured an exotic Destiny 2 sidearm named Forerunner, modeled after the iconic Halo Magnum pistol.

Fan Uses Armor Synthesis to Replicate Master Chief

A fan, known as Falcxn1, showcased their creation on the DestinyFashion subreddit, a community on Reddit dedicated to displaying the outfits and appearances that players can create in Destiny 2. Falcxn1 utilized armor parts designed for a Titan character and employed the Destiny 2 Armor Synthesis System to mix and match pieces, ultimately achieving a look resembling Master Chief's iconic MJOLNIR powered armor suit. To complete the look, they used Prime Palette, a cosmetic shader that approximately matched the distinctive green color of Master Chief's armor.

While Falcxn1's Guardian doesn't perfectly replicate Master Chief's well-known design, the silhouette and coloration are close enough to pass for the Chief at first glance. The combination of parts draws from various Destiny 2 Titan gear sets across different gear rarities and content seasons. These include the basic Midnight Oil Helmet and Hardcase Brawlers arm pieces, as well as the seasonal-exclusive Deep Explorer Plate and the Righteous Mark from the Bungie 30th Anniversary content. The Sunbreak Greaves ornament is typically found in the premium Eververse store in Destiny 2.

Customized appearances like Falcxn1's demonstrate both the flexibility of Destiny 2's cosmetic system and the dedication of fans who craft remarkable looks from it. This is because obtaining numerous cosmetic options for Armor Synthesis relies entirely on a player's ability to acquire more and more pieces of armor by playing the game – and sometimes purchasing from the store. Even cosmetic shaders typically need to be earned through random drops or specific achievements and activities. Therefore, it requires a highly committed player to assemble the perfect combination of parts to transform their Titan into Master Chief or bring popular characters like Homelander into Destiny 2.
