Highlights

  • Gorilla Grodd, the hyper-intelligent ape
  • Atrocitus, the anger-driven Green Lantern foe
  • Reverse Flash, the iconic nemesis of the Scarlet Speedster

The upcoming DCU, spearheaded by James Gunn and Peter Saffran, is scheduled to kick off with Superman: Legacy in 2025. Alongside this, a plethora of movies and TV shows set in the same universe have been announced, with rumors of The Authority being featured as the villains for the inaugural chapter of the DCU. While Lex Luthor and Maxwell Lord have already been cast in this shared universe, DC boasts a vast array of other antagonists.

As the new version of the DC universe approaches, it's time to contemplate the introduction of additional DC villains. While some villains are perennially anticipated to accompany the heroes, there are characters yet to make their live-action debut.

7 Gorilla Grodd

An Intelligent Ape That No One Expected To Work In Live Action

  • First Appearance: Flash #206 (1959)
  • Created by: John Broome and Carmine Infantino

Gorilla Grodd, a hyper-intelligent ape resulting from a science experiment gone awry, aspires to eradicate humanity and establish ape dominance. His heightened intellect and natural strength enable him to engineer his schemes while leading Gorilla City, a society of apes.

While the concept may seem preposterous, James Gunn has demonstrated his ability to make such outlandish characters viable, as seen with Rocket Racoon, Groot, and Peacemaker. Gorilla Grodd could serve as a formidable adversary in a standalone Flash movie or pose a threat to the entire Justice League.

6 Atrocitus

A Green Lantern Villain Who Controls Anger

  • First Appearance: Green Lantern (Volume 4) #25 (2008)
  • Created by: Geoff Johns and Ethan Van Sciver

Green Lantern has been absent from the big screen for far too long. Despite being excluded from Zack Snyder's Justice League, James Gunn has announced the arrival of a new Green Lantern show, with the inclusion of the renowned Green Lantern, Guy Gardner, in Superman: Legacy. To dissociate from the 2011 Green Lantern movie, the introduction of Atrocitus, the leader of the Red Lanterns, would be fitting. Utilizing his anger-fueled power, Atrocitus frequently clashes with the Green Lantern Corps and other entities in the universe.

5 Reverse Flash

The Arch Nemesis Of The Scarlet Speedster

  • First Appearance: Flash #139 (1963)
  • Created by: John Broome and Carmine Infantino

The exclusion of Reverse Flash from The Flash movie within the DCEU seemed an odd choice. This yellow-clad antagonist stands as the most renowned villain in Flash's rogues gallery, and his temporal tampering underpins the origin of the fastest man alive. Given his significant role in the CW's Flash TV show, it's only fitting for Reverse Flash to receive another shot in live action, especially if a new DCU installment featuring Flash materializes.
