Surviving the treacherous backyard of Grounded can be tough, with dangers lurking at every turn. Crafting essential items can significantly enhance your chances of survival in this hostile environment. One such item is the Sap Catcher, designed to automatically collect Sap for you. If you're wondering how to make a Sap Catcher and what materials you need, read on to find out.

Acquiring the resources to craft a Sap Catcher is relatively simple once you know where to look. Additionally, knowing the best placement for your Sap Catcher can maximize its efficiency.

Crafting a Sap Catcher in Grounded

The Sap Catcher is a valuable tool in Grounded, automatically harvesting up to five pieces of Sap without the need for manual collection. To create a Sap Catcher, you will require the following materials found in the yard:

  • One Acorn Top
  • Four Crude Rope
  • Two Weed Stem

Once you have gathered these resources, head to a Workbench to assemble the Sap Catcher. After crafting it, position the Sap Catcher vertically against a natural wood source, like a tree root or the Great Oak Tree at the garden's center, as shown below.

Setting up your base around the Great Oak Tree elevates your Sap Catcher game, allowing ample space for multiple units and efficient Sap farming. However, any sturdy tree can serve this purpose, provided there is sufficient space. Ensure the Sap Catcher hangs like a basket for optimal functionality.

Acquiring Acorn Tops

Smash fallen Acorns near the base of the Great Oak Tree with a Tier one Busting tool, like the Pebblet Hammer, to collect Acorn Tops. These tops are not only essential for the Sap Catcher but also for crafting items like the Smoothie Station and Spinning Wheel, as well as early-game armor sets.

Acquiring Crude Rope

Crude Rope is a versatile material used in various craft recipes in Grounded. Obtain Crude Rope by crafting three Plant Fibers in the Materials menu using Plant Fiber, abundant throughout the yard either as sprouts or from cutting down green grass.

Acquiring Weed Stems

Harvest Weed Stems by chopping down Dandelions, Bur Weeds, or Husky Weeds with appropriate cutting tools. While Dandelions require only a Tier 1 tool, more robust tools are needed for Bur Weeds and Husky Weeds. Stick to Dandelions initially when crafting your first Sap Catcher in Grounded.
