The much-anticipated launch of Braid: Anniversary Edition has been postponed and is now scheduled for May 14. Originally planned to debut on April 30, the remastered version of the iconic puzzle platformer Braid for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC, and Nintendo Switch faces a significant delay as confirmed by developer Thekla, Inc.
First introduced to the indie gaming world in 2008, Braid made waves with its captivating gameplay, artistic flair, and innovative mechanics. Over ten years later, the announcement of Braid: Anniversary Edition hinted at substantial changes for this special release.
Excitement surrounding Braid: Anniversary Edition has been palpable, considering the original Braid remains one of the most successful indie games ever. Yet, this enhanced version is now slated for release on May 14, missing the initial target date of April 30, 2024. In the latest update, creator Jonathan Blow revealed that Braid: Anniversary Edition will introduce 40 new or redesigned levels inspired by the original.

While maintaining the essence of the original game, Braid: Anniversary Edition will offer players an array of fresh areas to explore and items to collect. The game will feature over 15 hours of commentary from Braid creator Jonathan Blow, along with insights from Brian Moriarty, Casey Muratori, Frank Cifaldi, and other contributors.
The graphics have been meticulously repainted by original artist David Hellman. Thekla, Inc. promises smoother in-game animations by adding extra frames, enabling seamless real-time switching between both Braid versions. The addition of 13 new levels and 16 puzzle pieces will enrich the beloved gameplay style of Braid. Braid: Anniversary Edition will also boast enhanced audio, new sound mixes, and special variations of the original soundtrack.
