Following an extensive period of early access, the Sons of the Forest 1.0 update delivered a spine-chilling horror adventure for players. Stranded on an island infested with cannibals and mutants, players must navigate survival challenges while combating enemies and seeking a route to escape. Combat plays a significant role in the gameplay, requiring players to be prepared for intense confrontations.

As players spend more time in the forest, the threats posed by mutants and cannibals escalate. While ammunition and explosives offer effective defense, they are scarce resources. Players can resort to unconventional weapons like guitars and golf clubs for hand-to-hand combat, with the option to enhance their melee damage and chopping speed by boosting their Strength stat. Multiple factors influence Strength, making it essential to know the best methods to improve it in Sons of the Forest.

Enhancing Your Strength in Sons of the Forest

Players in Sons of the Forest have eight stats that impact their abilities and skills. While Hunger, Thirst, Rest, and Stamina focus on health, Strength and Stealth are skill-oriented stats that develop gradually over time. Monitoring Strength progress is possible by observing the flexing arm symbol on the health dial, which indicates the current Strength level when the red bars fill up.

Understanding the Strength Stat in Sons of the Forest

Strength maxes out at level 50, influencing overall health and providing a 1% boost to melee damage and chopping speed. Physical actions such as swinging a spear, chopping trees, running, climbing, and engaging in combat contribute to increasing Strength over time.

  • Engage in combat
  • Swing a spear
  • Chop down trees
  • Run
  • Climb

For instance, players can reach Strength level 2 by swinging an axe 100 times in Sons of the Forest. Another effective method is to repeatedly pick up and drop logs, a quick way to enhance Strength. By reaching level 50, players will double their health capacity and deal up to 50% more melee damage.

Players can also receive a temporary Strength boost by consuming cooked meals. These meals can be prepared using a Cooking Pot, raw ingredients, and a small fire. Consuming dishes like Boiled Meat, a basic recipe made from water and meat cuts, replenishes Hunger, Thirst, and Health. Additionally, a yellow Strength bar appears temporarily, indicating a strength bonus that accelerates chopping speed.
