Created by the renowned video game studio BioWare, the original Baldur's Gate hit the shelves in late 1998, followed by a sequel, Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn, in 2000. Both games, set in the tabletop RPG Dungeons & Dragons' Forgotten Realms campaign setting, garnered critical acclaim and quickly became cult classics, leaving a lasting impact on the gaming world. Despite their age, physical copies of Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn can still be found.

The game CDs and included maps were well-preserved, and the 264-page manual for Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn was in pristine condition.
