Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon has introduced its latest update, which brings a host of balance changes and bug fixes. This marks the first update for Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon following patch 1.05.

The December update for Armored Core 6 introduced a ranked matchmaking system and added new frame parts, weapons, name plates, and more. Despite receiving positive reviews from both fans and critics, FromSoftware's mech-based action game has struggled to maintain a substantial player base since its launch in August 2023. Currently, it averages just under 2,000 Steam players in the last 30 days, a significant drop from its peak of 156,000 players at launch. The game's primarily single-player focus has led many players to move on after completing its PvE content. Nonetheless, some fans remain hopeful that Armored Core 6 can regain its fan base through impactful updates, and the latest update is now live.

On February 5, Armored Core 6 released patch 1.06, which brought balance adjustments to a wide range of weapon units, frame parts, and inner parts. The changes include nerfs to the Viento needle gun and LCB laser cannon, as well as buffs to the WLT FCS and Kasuar reverse joint. In total, 21 weapon units, 19 frame parts, and 8 inner parts underwent rebalancing, potentially reshaping the current meta of Armored Core 6. Patch 1.06 also addressed various bug fixes, such as tank legs causing a shorter hit stun and back weapons incorrectly firing after reloading. The update is now accessible on all platforms, and players are encouraged to apply the new patch before engaging in online play.

Armored Core 6 is widely regarded as one of FromSoftware's premier mech games, and the latest patch is hoped to reignite player interest. While the game predominantly focuses on single-player PvE, its PvP multiplayer component offers a high skill ceiling for players to strive towards. The community has responded positively to the recent balance changes, as they toned down some of the more frustrating meta tools while enhancing less commonly used off-meta tools. Fans anticipate that these adjustments will effectively showcase Armored Core 6's exceptional combat mechanics.

Armored Core 6 has even secured a place among FromSoftware's top-rated games on Steam, an intensely competitive category where it is surpassed only by titles like Dark Souls Remastered, Elden Ring, Dark Souls 3, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

In the near future, fans can anticipate more content from FromSoftware. However, the development of DLC specifically for Armored Core 6 remains unconfirmed. On the bright side, Elden Ring enthusiasts can look forward to the rumored release of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion later this year.
